5 Answers to Questions often asked about having a Family Portrait Created – The Stuff 99% Of All People In The World Don’t Know:

By visiting my website, you must at least be considering having a portrait of your family created. Well, that’s great — you will probably never make a decision that will bring you more lasting joy. However, there are some things you NEED to know before you and your loved ones step in front of any camera. By the time you finish reading this single page, you will know everything you need to know about how to have the perfect family portrait created – the one you will cherish forever!

You may feel that having a family portrait done is going to be a lot of work on your part. Well, it isn’t! In fact, that could almost be one of the “myths or mistakes” right there. As long as you know the information on this site, it won’t be any work at all on your part.

….So, let’s jump right in

The question is asked-how can I know that I will be happy with my family portrait? What can you do to give me confidence?

We can and do offer you a guarantee that you will love your portrait!  We know that if you had a portrait made and were not happy with how you or family members looked, you would not want to purchase it.  So here is what I offer you…

If for any reason you feel that the photographs I create for you are less than perfect in your eyes-when I show them to you for the first time-you don’t pay me for them-it is that simple.

If Your Family Doesn’t Look The Happiest & Best They’ve Ever Looked Together In These Photographs — If You Don’t Cry (tears of joy) When You Look At Them — You Don’t Pay Me For Them.

This guarantee is why I can say this:

If you are dissatisfied for any reason at all, I will do two things for you-

First: at no additional charge I will photograph your family again and make sure that anything that was not perfect is fixed.

Second: If I am absolutely unable to trill you with a portrait that you will cherish forever, I will REFUND EVERY PENNY you have invested, you will not pay for photography if you are not happy.

I believe completely that these photographs will become your most prized possessions.

Many ask the question-Why should I be concerned WHO takes our family portrait, does it make a difference?

If you’re at all like most people, you’ve probably had this question going through your mind: “How do I choose the right photographer?” In fact, you may even have thought of someone in your family – an uncle, a grandparent, even a friend – who is a bit of an amateur photographer. Why not just have that person create the photograph of your family?

Question: “Just Suppose Someone Were To Create The Perfect Family Portrait – One Where You And Your Loved Ones Looked Better Than Ever, Happier Than Ever – A Portrait That Meant The World To You – What Would That Be Worth?”

No price tag can be put on your family’s memories. They are and always will be priceless. So, why would you ever want to gamble with those memories? It’s just a question of whether you believe a portrait of your family could really mean that much to you.

I Realized That Memories Were Priceless – That There Was No More Noble Or Wonderful Profession Than To Become A “Memory Giver.”

Time is the one thing that none of us have enough of. It’s the one thing that money can’t buy. It’s the one thing that we all would give just about anything for. Through photography, we can hold on to the moments in our lives that we wish could last forever. And, if it’s done correctly, these same photographs can become almost like works of art that we display in our homes for everyone to see and share.

Can I just have my family images on a CD to keep on my computer?  Doesn’t a portrait have to be done in a studio?

My goal as a photographer is to provide full service photography that will produce beautiful wall portraits and gift sized photographs for your home and loved ones.   Your family images need to be displayed proudly in your home in the adequate size, where you can view them and the memories they capture.  Seriously, how many images are ever viewed after they are stored electronically?   A portrait of your family or child is meant to be a special event, capturing a moment in time and needs to be seen and enjoyed. Think of the family albums or portraits that you may have from your childhood, the enjoyment you feel in looking at them. The history of family is preserved.

A portrait involves time and planning with a professional photographer.

To create a portrait that is meaningful, I know it may not need to be in our studio setting but in a location that best reflects your family’s personality.  A portrait should capture “The Times of YOUR Life.”

Picture instead: All of you gathered in your favorite room in your home. Or outside on the new deck you just had built. Or in your backyard by the pine trees that give your yard so much character. All of you are dressed in clothes the we helped you choose – clothing that conveys your individual personalities, but still looks great together.

Well, that’s what makes all the difference, and that’s what I will do for you.

And This is SO Important: All Of You Feel Totally Comfortable In Front Of The Camera!

That’s why it’s so important that you feel very natural and comfortable with your photographer. Just think of how great your family would look if your best friend was creating the photograph. They would all look so happy and natural! I take pride in developing very close relationships with all my clients, and their entire family. Through years of experience and training Sharon and I can offer ways to feel relaxed and enjoy the experience of your family portrait being created.

Plus, I understand the “psychology” of photography. Learning the technical aspects – what lenses to use, what lighting looks best, how clothing adds and subtracts weight – all of those things were only the tip of the iceberg. Without being able to make each and every one of your family members look and feel comfortable (and natural), all those technical things would amount to nothing.  I will take the time to help you have a wonderful portrait made.

How can I make the right choices on how my family will dress for our portrait session?

You are not alone to make this decision!  I have had years of experience in guiding families on decisions for their family portrait session. There are a number of things to keep in mind about clothing choices:

  1. The family does not have to dress in matching outfits! Keep to similar tones and colors, stay away from patterns such as stripes, plaids, large prints.  We want the focus to be on your faces and expressions, not the clothing worn.
  2. By staying with solids or subtle prints for the group, attention will be on all involved not pulling attention to one person in the group.
  3. Keep the clothing in similar styles, all casual or all more  dressy, formal.  Keep the style in harmony with the setting, is it outdoors or in your home or some other indoor setting? Remember the goal is to be yourselves, natural, how you see yourself and your family presented to others.
  4. Prior to the session, I will be meeting with the main planner of the portrait, usually Mom and we will go over these details and many more to make sure your family is comfortable and feels natural.  This will equal happy and relaxed expressions for your portrait.

Even if it’s after business hours, still call right now. I’ve got an answering machine that is just waiting to cheerfully take your message, and I’ll personally call you back so we can chat. Don’t worry, I’m not going to try to “pressure” you at all into working with me. Plus, there’s no cost at all for us just to talk.  I’ll tell you a bit about me. I’ll answer all your questions about how to prepare for a family portrait. It won’t be a long call, but it will be one of the most important calls you make.

So often the question is what is the right time for a family portrait? Perhaps we should wait for….and time goes on.

You know how things are. If you don’t pick up the phone right now, and at least call me to chat about your family portrait, you will probably get swamped with other things, and forget all about it. Then, before you know it, a year – two years – five years have gone by. How different will your family be then?

You see, time is ticking… and it’s never going to stop. Really now is the time to plan for a family portrait!  There are many milestones in our lives but to capture your family now will be a true memory to cherish as life moves on.

These are precious times, and although things will change, this moment never has to slip from your fingers.

Don’t put this off. You know how life is. We put things off, and before we know it, everything has changed. If your life is half as crazy as mine is, year after year you find yourself frustrated at the things you wanted to do, and never got done. A family portrait is something you deserve.

Why Your Family Portrait Will Become More Valuable To You Than Anything Else In Your Home:

I’m talking about a wonderful photograph, created by a professional photographer, that not only captures your family’s true bonds and relationships, but also does so in a way that you’d be proud to display openly in your home for the rest of your life.
